Kristy Janigo: Crazy Protestor Turned Crazy Politician

Ever since Maple Grove City Council member and State Senate candidate Kristy Janigo first got involved with politics, she has been hyper focused on DEI, woke social issues, and the weird performative displays of obnoxious left-wing activism.

Before she ran for office, Janigo spent her time advocating for various divisive social issues and attending protests. One of her more bizarre obsessions has been with the “pussy hat.” Her fascination with the vulgar symbol of protest in 2017 led her to author an entire academic paper analyzing how knitting and wearing these hats was a sign of women’s empowerment. 

Upon being elected to the City Council, Kristy made it clear that she wanted to take her woke activism to the next level. She wrote extensively on her campaign website at the time of her support for DEI policies, even listing DEI as one of the primary issues of her campaign.

Kristy worked hard to bring DEI to Maple Grove. In 2021, Janigo was an organizer for Maple Grove’s first Pride Festival as part of a self-described DEI group.

Kristy’s obsession with woke DEI policies goes far beyond festivals and have real consequences for Minnesotans. While running for city council, she didn’t view Maple Grove’s low crime rate as proof of successful policing and public safety policy. Instead, she criticized the racial composition of the Maple Grove police department and determined that it was a problem in need of her DEI solutions. She called for hiring officers based on where they live and the color of their skin, not their qualifications to help keep Maple Grove safe.

Minnesotans need leaders focused on the issues impacting their lives. Not crazy protestors turned politicians like Kristy Janigo.
