This week, every Minnesota Democrat in the legislature voted against a bill that would have protected girls’ sports from biological males competing against them. The Preserving Girls’ Sports Act (HF 12), championed by Republicans, sought to ensure fairness in female athletics—something that used to be common sense. But Democrats, bowing to the radical left, shot it down. (MPR News)
The vote was clear: every single Democrat opposed protecting fairness in girls’ sports. Every Republican supported it. But since it needed at least 1 Democrat vote in both the Minnesota House and Senate, the bill failed. This is the modern Democratic Party—willing to erase decades of progress in women’s athletics to appease activists. (Star Tribune)
Rep. Peggy Scott (R-Andover) put it plainly: “We cannot allow our girls to be vulnerable to losing their spot on the team, being on the podium, or to injury by a male teammate or male competitor,” Scott told lawmakers during afternoon debate on the bill. “That is not safe and it is not fair for our girls. It is our duty to protect female athletes in the state of Minnesota.” But Democrats wouldn’t hear it.
For over a decade, Minnesota’s high school sports league has let boys compete in girls’ sports, and Democrats want to keep it that way. Republicans, meanwhile, vow to keep fighting to restore fairness. With elections coming up, voters will have to decide: Do we stand with female athletes or with the radical left?
